Graphic Design Faculty - Tidewater Community College

Tidewater Community College seeks applications for full-time teaching faculty in Art: Graphic Design located in Portsmouth, Virginia at our Visual Arts Center. TCC is the largest provider of higher education and workforce development services in the region, enrolling over 45,500 credit students annually and employing more than 2,300 full-time and part-time faculty and staff. The nation's thirty-fifth largest community college, TCC is among the twenty fastest-growing large two-year institutions in the United States. The major emphasis is on teaching, by working with students in classrooms, laboratories, individual conferences, and related activities to help students develop their interests and abilities to the fullest capacity to become better persons, better workers, and better citizens. Faculty responsibilities also include office hours, committee work, student activities, community activities, student advising, and professional activities. This position will be expected to establish relationships and develop partnerships with industry leaders. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design or related field and two years work experience in graphic design, and experience in multimedia or web design. Competence in current versions of Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Flash, HTML, and Dreamweaver on the Mac. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Masters of Fine Arts degree in Graphic Design or related field. Substantial professional record of accomplishment in multimedia and/or web design. Experience in pre-press production. Teaching experience, especially at a community college. Competence in current versions of Adobe After Effects, Final Cut Pro, and LightWave. Knowledge of, and experience with, proven teaching strategies that promote student success. Candidates should possess sufficient technology skills to work productively in an organization that utilizes significant information and instructional technology resources.
