Our brand new mentor program brings together local design students with successful professionals in the industry. Students who participate are interested in furthering their knowledge within the field and starting a career.
This 16-week program will run the course of one (1) school semester. Mentors should be individuals looking to help, encourage, and inspire up-and-coming local design students. Mentors must make themselves available to meet with their assigned student at least four (4) times over the course of the program's 16-week period, and maintain contact via phone or email to provide answers to questions, give feedback, or just keep the communication lines open with their student.
Mentor Requirements: Must be a Professional member (an individual who has practiced or taught in any design community for four years or more) or Educator member in good standing of the AIGA Hampton Roads Chapter who is actively working in the design field.
Student Requirements: Must be a Student member in good standing of the AIGA Hampton Roads Chapter who is currently enrolled in college classes and seeking a design-related degree.
Deadline for Submissions:
Deadline for application submissions is January 15th. All applications will undergo evaluation by the AIGA Hampton Roads Education Director and additional members of the Board. Ten students and ten mentors will be selected and paired up from the submissions received. All applicants will be notified no later than January 24th of their selection.
Meet & Greet for Mentor Pairs: Selected pairs will be required to attend the Student Social on January 27th, where mentors and students will be connected to kick off the program.
